Sony goes wireless with its MDR-RF865RK headphones
Sony has detailed two new personal audio options - the MDR-RF865RK wireless headphone system and MDR-NC13 noise cancelling in-ear headphones.
Starting with the wireless option, this is a big can option, which will let you listen to your tunes, play games or watch TV late at night without disturbing anyone.
They have a range of 100m, which means that even Mr Burns could use them in his living room, and they come with a charging station which takes 3.5 hours to fully juice up the system - giving you up to 25 hours playback.
The wireless module is a FM stereo, 3 channel one and the headphones have a frequency response of 10-22,000Hz from the 40mm driver units. You can alter the volume on your playback device using the built in controls.
The MDR-NC13 is designed with commuters in mind as it reduces ambient noise by around 85 per cent, meaning you shouldn't have to listen to the annoying woman sitting next to you telling the talking clock all about her busy day.
The buds have a manganese battery to power the noise cancelling, but an AAA alkaline battery addition boosts listening time to a full 100 hours.
Both the MDR-RF865RK wireless headphone system and MDR-NC13 noise cancelling in-ear headphones are out in April.
Prices are still to be confirmed.
