London in Autumn. You can keep Paris in Springtime as far as I’m concerned. The nation’s capital still has it all and despite the ridiculous house prices, food prices, booze prices – in fact all prices, the Big Smoke still draws in the crowds from across the globe.OK, so the weather is a bit iffy at this time of year, but if you get one of those bright, crisp autumn days that we do so well in this country, there’s nowhere quite like London. People walk around looking almost happy (a real effort for most Londoners) and the city takes on an almost ethereal cosiness.
Getting to London has never been easier, especially with all the budget airline fares you can nab these days.
But, and it’s a huge but, getting into town from the airports can be an exercise in military logistics and the expense doesn’t bear thinking about.
This new site offers a very real and affordable alternative.
It comes from National Express – a name you can trust as far as bus travel goes. But this service is not like the ones immortalised by the Divine Comedy, this is a door-to-door service from Heathrow and Gatwick to Central London.
The costs is about half that of a taxi and you don’t have to worry about dragging your luggage from platform to platform using the trains. It’s quick too.
So if you’re thinking of heading to the big city lights to do some Christmas shopping or catch a show or even just wander round this awesome city for a few days, consider this a real option for getting to and from all the action.
