Could a new Xbox be on course for a 2015 landing?
If the online web portfolio of the mysterious Ben Peterson proves to be genuine, and accurate - then yes.
Not a lot is known of Mr Peterson, although a report on ZDNet has him labelled as a "designer Microsoft has brought on-board to collaborate with their IEB (Interactive Entertainment Business) Design group to investigate future user experience scenarios".
The portfolio reads: "Confidential / Collaboration with Microsoft's IEB design group investigating future user experiences and hardware for 2015. *Work samples only permissible in person.* (March 2011)"
If that's the case, then Peterson may have some explaining to do to his new bosses as to why he's posting teaser pictures of the supposed next-gen Xbox console (or device) - even if he has labelled it "confidential".
Or, maybe Microsoft feels its time to start banging the new Xbox drum, so as we're all in a state of extreme frenzy by its launch in 2015.
The picture itself doesn't really show much, it could be anything in fact - but it's the notion that Microsoft has a new Xbox up its sleeve for 2015 that's really exciting. In 2010, it said that Kinect would extend the 360's life by 5 years.
Well, those 5 years will be up come 2015.
Update: It seems Mr Peterson has removed the picture from his portfolio. Hmmmm.......
