Recently on Pocket-lint we brought you sound guru Jake "virt" Kaufman's modern spin on the original Super Mario Bros. game.

Well, modern in terms of sound at least.

This 3DSMax animation effort, created by Brandon Laatsch, is perhaps what the original Mario Bros game would have looked like - had it been made in the 21st century.

Laatsch has brilliantly recreated the entire 1-1 level in FPS mode and we particularly love the "Make it rain" combo when he successfully gets all 10 coins from the question box, and the fact he hasn't forgotten about the secret extra-life mushroom.

Our only criticism is that he didn't hit the flag-pole with the time remaining ending in a 1, 3 or 6. Everyone knows that's how you get the fireworks right?

Great video though, we only wish it was playable.
