Apple iPad 2: Now on sale
The long-awaited Apple tablet sequel - the iPad 2 - has gone on sale via the tech giant's US online store.
Sales began at 4am New York time (9am here in Blighty) and the full line-up is on offer, with prices ranging from $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only version, to $829 for the 64GB Wi-Fi and 3G model.
Apple Stores in the States will begin selling the iPad 2 in the real-world from 5pm, and there are numerous reports of queues building up across the country already. British fanboys will have to wait until 25 March to get their hands on the dual-camera tablet.
So will it be iPad mania Mk.II, or has the Apple fanbase been slightly underwhelmed by the tablet's tweaked specs?
Well, according to a report on Bloomberg, the iPad 2 is likely to smash the opening weekend figures of its predecessor with analysts predicting that Apple will shift around 600,000 units. The original sold 300,000ish in its first 24 hours.
Forecasters also suggest that Apple will sell a whopping 35 million iPad 2 units in 2011.
