MySpace is hoping to extend its appeal, and keep people on pages for longer, with the introduction of casual gaming.

The social networking site has signed an agreement with casual games company Oberon Media to launch MySpace Games in 2008 which will let users choose from hundreds of games for free online play.

"Bringing entertainment in the form of fun, social, casual games will enhance our user experience", Amit Kapur, MySpace vice president of business development, said.

"Our goal is to provide our members with an easy way to play with their friends and give them with additional ways to interact."

When the service is set up next year, MySpace users will be able to add games to their profile pages, as well as challenge their buddies with multiplayer games.
