KoolTrax - turn your phone into a GPS tracking device

Via a software download

19 October 2007 10:43 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

A unique software download called "KoolTrax" turns your mobile phone or PDA into a GPS tracker, enabling its exact location to be monitored on the Internet.

This type of solution means there's no need to carry around a dedicated tracking device and tracking with KoolTrax is live and continuous.

This means that you can see where the phone is all the time, and you can use Blue Tree's "BlueMap" GPS tracking software to do things like set geofences, set up a "breadcrumb trail" and set up contacts to receive alerts.

KoolTrax provides GPS accuracy, about 4 metres in any direction, which the company claims is enough to tell between different rooms in a normal house.

Uses include parents knowing where their children are, sports men and women tracking their progress or even lone workers using their phone as a safety system.

Solutions are available from £39.95.
