Samsung to begin manufacture of AMOLED phones

Mobiles with next-gen display going into production

In Korea, Samsung has announced it is to start manufacturing AMOLED mobile phones for the Far East market with four new models being developed initially.

The only info revealed has been these rendered images and screen sizes of 2.6-inches and 2.8-inches.

AMOLED stands for active-matrix light-emitting diodes and is clearer than the LCD, even in sunlight.

Samsung has beat LG Philips LCD, Sony and Toshiba Matsushita Display Technology who are also working on AMOLED solutions, to the announcement of mass produced models.
