Nvidia Tegra 2 3D coming very soon

You may have read on Pocket-lint last week about the Nvidia Tegra 3 rumours (about how the next-gen chip could be announced at Mobile World Congress 2011) and now there is yet more Nvidia chip gossip doing the web-rounds.

The latest reports revolve around the Nvidia Tegra 2 3D chip which, according to an apparently leaked slide from the manufacturer's MWC presentation, will be landing in Spring 2011.

The slide states that the Tegra 2 3D will be based on the dual-cortex A9 architecture and offer speeds up to 1.2GHz (5520MIPS). It states Q1 production for the 3D chip.

The report on TechEye, from which the leaked slide was obtained, suggests that the Tegra 2 3D could mean that smartphones (and tablets too we'd guess) could offer a Master Image TN-LCD display that would use cell parallax tech to create the 3D effect, as per the Nintendo 3DS.

The Tegra 3 reports were based on Tegra general manager Mike Rayfield saying: "I'm going to come pretty close to my cadence of a launch every year. It will be in production around the same time as my competitors' first dual-cores will."

So, it could well be that the Tegra top-bog was referring to the Tegra 2 3D chip.

All will be revealed in February in Barcelona....
