Whilst it's not a new phenomenon for code-bashers to knock up Android versions of the iPhone 3G, this is the first time that we've seen Gingerbread playing nicely on an Apple device.

The hack allows you to dual boot either iOS or Android 2.3 (or enter the console) all thanks to the OpeniBoot software - so it should also work on an iPhone 2G or a first generation iPod touch (up to iOS 4.1).

It's a nice little hack, although we're more keen to see the next big inevitable Android/Apple mashup - an iPad running Honeycomb.

Now that would be awesome.
