Apple loves blowing its own trumpet.
The Cupertino tech company has just sent out a press release boasting just how successful the Mac App Store has been already.
It states that over one million apps were downloaded from the Mac App Store in its first day, and Jobs is "amazed at the incredible response the Mac App Store is getting.”
The Apple boss also stated that “developers have done a great job bringing apps to the store and users are loving how easy and fun the Mac App Store is.”
Now, we're not saying that a million isn't a massive number, nor are we suggesting that it doesn't indicate a hugely successful launch.
But, with over 22 million Mac OS X users worldwide (and this was a count from back in 2007, so there's probably a few million more than that now) is one million downloads really all that impressive? Especially considering that there are plenty of free apps in there.
No doubt Apple will be doing some further trumpet blowing in the near future with some far more astronomical numbers, but one million on day one may well indicate a trumpet blown too soon.
