Griffin has launched its CarTrip device over in Vegas at CES - and no, it's not another radio music transmitter.
The Griffin CarTrip is a little gadget that plugs into your car's OBD-II port, and accesses all the information regarding your driving.
This data (which can be stored on the device itself using the built-in memory, or an SD card if you fill it up), combined with a free app for your iOS or Android device, called CleanDrive, creates feedback based on the way you drive, from your fuel efficiency to how environmentally friendly your journeys are.
"We've all wondered at one time or another if our vehicles are running as efficiently as possible; or looked at an engine light with curiosity, and anxiety," said Eric Weisinger, category ,anager for auto accessories at Griffin.
"CarTrip helps conscious drivers decode the inner workings of their vehicles, be it maintenance codes, fuel economy, engine performance, or environmental impact."
Priced at £64.99, the Griffin CarTrip will hit the shops in the first quarter of this year (although the Android app won't land until Q2). If you fancy making yourself a better, greener driver then it could be just the gadget for you.
Alternatively, if you haven't got £64.99 to spare, we'll loan you Mrs Pocket-lint who will be more than happy to tell you how bad your driving is, free of charge.
