Poco Pro: The credit card sized 1080p camcorder

The digital camera is about to get a whole lot smaller if designer Iain Sinclair has his way, as details have been released of a new digital camera that will be able to fit in your wallet.

The Poco Pro measures the same size as a credit card (85.6 x 54 x 5 mm) and weighs 65 grams, giving it the claim of the world's thinnest, full 1080P high definition pocket video camcorder, as well as the world's smallest 14 megapixel compact digital still camera.

According to the company, features include ultra fast Auto Focus (for swift click to capture), Super Macro (for detailed close up shots), Image Stabilization (to reduce blurring during motion capture) and Face Recognition (for automatically identifying a human face in an image or video) and rather low f2.8 – f11 aperture. You’ll even get a mechanical shutter.

If that wasn’t enough to make you hope you don’t get a new camera for Christmas, the Poco Pro promises to double as a media player with music playback and recording possible via a piezo speaker and twin miniature microphones with noise cancellation. There’s a 3.5mm jack socket of course.

Completing the package, that almost sounds too good to be true (considering its £200 price-point) is a 2.4-inch AMOLED and a mico SD card slot to save your pictures and video on.

Oh, and it’s got a flash too.

The new camera is expected to ship sometime between April and June 2011.
