Android Gmail update takes Priority for Google
Google has revamped Gmail for Android users (well, Android 2.2 and above users) bringing Priority Inbox to the mobile email app.
The popular feature (well, it's popular according to Google at least) makes it on to your small screen in Gmail for Android 2.2.3 and gives you a new view option with importance markers. You can also set your Android device to only alert you when you receive an "important" message.
"While Priority Inbox on your Android phone doesn’t have all the features offered in the desktop version of Gmail, we think this is a good start and plan to add even more functionality moving forward", said Paul Westbrook who's in the Gmail for Android team.
The composing features have also seen a revamp too with a more intuitive reply/reply to all option, and you can now send emails from any address that you have configured through the Gmail desktop version.
The update is in the Android Market now, and is available to "most countries". However, the "most countries" list doesn't yet include the UK - so you might have to rely on an over-the-air update from your network provider.
Update: We've received word that the update is, in fact, in the UK Android Market now.
