BBC One HD live from 7pm tonight
The BBC expands its high definition channel offering from 7pm tonight, with the launch of its simulcast HD version of BBC One.
BBC One HD kicks off with a 1080i version of The One Show featuring Jason Manford and Alex Jones, with another notable highlight for the evening being the HD edition of The Apprentice. All shows not shot in high definition will be upscaled to 1080i.
Of course, both the aforementioned shows have already been broadcast in HD regularly, on BBC HD, but they will now make their home on the channel, while the old HD service will show high-def versions of its programming from the corporation's other stations, such as BBC Three and BBC Two.
Eastenders will eventually make its HD bow on BBC One HD, but not until Christmas Day. Until then, it will be upscaled (so may look slightly better than usual).
The new BBC One HD channel can be found on Freeview HD channel 50, Freesat HD channel 108, Sky channel 143, and Virgin Media channel 108.
The old BBC HD service is now available on Freeview HD channel 54, Freesat HD channel 109, Sky channel 169, and Virgin Media channel 187.
Freeview HD customers will need to rescan.
