iPad/iPhone iOS 4.2 SDK now available to developers

Apple has released its iOS 4.2 SDK GM seed and iOS 4.2 GM seed to developers. Both are now available to download from the iOS Dev Centre, and allow programmers to build, test and compile apps ready for submission to Apple for review.

In addition, development versions of Xcode 3.2.5 and iTunes 10.1 beta 2 are offered to registered developers, the latter of which so that compatibility testing can be performed.

According to an email sent out to the development community, the Cupertino company is also offering tips on how to use the new features afforded by iOS 4.2, including the ability to print directly from an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch.

The email also confirms other touted new features for the iPad, such as multitasking, Game Center, and iAd (in-app integrated advertising).

There's still no indication on when the update will be available to Apple device owners, but it's still believed to hit sometime this month (November).
