eBay launches "Neighborhood" social shopping networks

American site gets all Web 2.0

eBay has made a move into the Web 2.0 world with the launch of more than 600 "micro-social networks" on its site called "eBay Neighborhoods".

Centred on different product groups, like coffee, iPhones, Eames furniture, Seinfeld memorabilia, or Ford Mustangs, relevant content from across the site including eBay blogs, guides, reviews, and product searches is put into each neighbourhood in widget-like modules.

eBay members can join whatever neighbourhoods they like, and add to discussion boards there, post photos, invite friends, and meet other people who share the same consumer obsessions.
