HP Envy 100 e-All-in-One printer hands on

We've already brought you the latest pictures from our hands on time with HP's Photosmart eStation, but that's not all we got a first look at today. We also managed to get up close with the slimline HP Envy 100 e-All-in-One printer.

If you know your laptops, then you'll probably already be familiar with HP's Envy branding, but this is the first time that it's brought the Envy aesthetics to its printer lineup. Sporting a slick, glossy black finish, the web-connected Envy 100 has been designed so that it fits into your home decor so that it won't look unsightly if you want to put it in the living room. According to HP, this is also the world's very first PVC-free printer, which should make it appeal to the eco-friendly among you.

Like the Photosmart eStation, the Envy 100 features HP's innovative ePrint function which enables you to send a print job directly to the printer, using its own unique email address. This means that you can send content remotely from your laptop or mobile device to print at home, or even send documents or images to a friend or relative's printer from your own home.

Printing is controlled using front-mounted 3.45-inch touchscreen, which tilts for easy viewing and can be used to access and print from HP's specially designed apps including Facebook, Reuters news, Mappy maps, Google calendar and Crayola and Dreamworks for children's printable activities. There are also some apps that are exclusive to the UK market such as beforeIshop which lets you choose and print coupons.

The duplex hardware and printer tray are incorporated into the body of the printer, so that the design is flush at the back, with no obtrusions. However, the tiny paper tray does mean that you'll need to refill it quite regularly.

This svelte printer not only has an impressively compact design, it also produces high-quality prints at very low noise levels, so that it shouldn't interrupt any conversations or TV watching. Meanwhile, the colourful touchscreen operation makes it extremely easy to use.

It's shipping now with a price tag of £249.99.
