Oh dear. Poor old Symbian.

Once the king of the mobile OS playground, the struggling platform is losing friends faster than Mel Gibson.

First up Sony Ericsson ditched the open source OS, with some damning comments at the end of September and now Samsung has confirmed that it no longer has plans for Symbian-based handsets.

Samsung has obviously decided that with its own Bada platform, Android and Windows Phone 7 - it has got its bases covered.

Symbian still has Nokia in its corner, but with the Finnish giant struggling with its profits, and MeeGo on its way - could this be the beginning of the end for Symbian?
