JVC has demoed a 32-inch LCD television with a 180Hz refresh rate in Japan.

It uses a custom algorithm that can interpolate a 60Hz HDTV feed, and insert two frames of its own.

Even compared to today's premium 120Hz sets, it offers a much smoother image.

It's just a prototype at this stage, so don't go looking at your 120Hz model with absolute disgust - well, not just yet, anyway...
