Scalextric gets serious with Digital Pro GT
There are certain things you never grow out of... Fizzy drinks. Sherbet Dib Dabs. A great episode of Tom and Jerry. Wearing a baby grow at bed time. Er...
One of those things, certainly for most chaps (and some chapettes) is Scalextric. It is, quite frankly, the greatest electrically-powered toy known to mankind. And now there's a great excuse for Dads and those of us who have grown old disgracefully to get a version of the classic racing game for ourselves. Hands off kids, Scalextric Digital Pro GT is all ours.
At £299, the new set doesn't come cheap, but it comes with four Scalextric Digital supercars; Aston Martin DB9, Porsche 911 GT3R, Maserati MC12 and Ford GT-R, each of which can cost over £40 if bought separately. Plus, the Pro GT set features the debut of the brand's new Digital Lap Counter.
The counter can be set for up to 999 laps (that's a lot of racing, and no mistake), has a built-in start sequence, and will penalise drivers for a false start.
It also displays how many laps are remaining, the race leader, and the final finishing order for up to six compatible Digital cars.
The Pro GT set, with a figure-eight track layout, will be out at the beginning of October, and will be available in major toy stores and online at scalextric.com.
