Nikon Coolpix S80 adds to expanding line-up

Not content with adding the flagship P7000 model to the Coolpix range, Nikon has also announced the arrival of the Coolpix S80.

The S80 is essentially point-and-shoot device, but with some pretty hard-core kit on board.

It has 14.1-megapixels for your stills and is also capable of shooting 720p HD video at 30fps. It has a 5x optical zoom via the Nikkor lens, and it is also possible to zoom in and out during video recordings. There's also a HMDI out option for watching back your footage on your big screen TV.

Round the back it has a 3.5-inch OLED touchscreen, with a 819K dots high resolution and there are built in filters such as fisheye lens, selective colour and a miniature effect, meaning that you can touch up your images on the go.

There are five anti-blur functions built in so that, with Easy Auto Mode selected, you shouldn't have any problems getting some decent snaps.

Mark Pekelharing, product manager consumer products at Nikon Europe said:

"The S80 demonstrates Nikon’s commitment to lead the touch screen camera category. The chic, slim style and high-quality screen allows you to interact with your images with ease whilst its high-speed performance captures the perfect shot quickly and in clear definition.

"Providing substance as well as a unique sense of style, the S80 is the perfect camera for the fashionable photographer."

The Nikon Coolpix S80 will be available from 7 October, in black or red, with a suggested retail price of £329.99.
