Ping: Top 10 most followed artists
One of the joys of Ping on iTunes is that you can get close to your favourite artists. Yes, the music-based social network from Apple allows you to snuggle up so tight that you can pretty much read what they've had for breakfast.
The add-on to the iTunes Store has only been available to the public for a matter of days, so far, here are the top 10 artists as followed by the masses.

Her breasts may be small and humble, but Shakira has done a good job of beating the likes of Fiddy (small and not humble) to the top 10. Shame about the exceedingly dull About Me section.
9. Dave Matthews Band

Dave Matthews and crew are showing the world it's not all kids music making it into the hit parade these days. Not a lot of Ping love going on otherwise with a biog that reads like a Wikipedia page and no apparent musical preference.
8. Taylor Swift

In her own words, "Hi, I’m Taylor. I’m 20 years old. I like sparkles and writing songs about my adventures and misadventures, most of which concern love. Will you listen to them please? Thanks, I knew I liked you", Thank you, Taylor. We like sparkles too.
7. Muse

Not even Muse can be bothered to write anything interesting about the music they like, but it doesn't seem to have stopped the fans following them in their droves.
6. Jack Johnson

Not a whole lot of the personal touch from Apple favourite Jack Johnson going on. All the comments very much written by the label.
5. Linkin Park

Still no musical likes written by anyone, but Linkin Park do seem to be writing the comments themselves - well, the label's getting them down in the first person, at least.
4. Katy Perry

- Liar (Dragonette), All the lovers (Kylie Minogue)
Hurray, Hurray, someone who appears to be getting into the whole spirit of things. Not only does Ms Perry let us know that she listens to music, but she also appears to be personally interacting on Ping. Well worth a follow.
3. U2

- Once in a lifetime (Talking Heads), Unfinished Symphony (Franz Schubert), Teen Beat ‘65 (Sandy Nelson)
There might be a bunch of ones whose names you don't know, they might be old but, dammit, at least they've bothered coming out with some songs they like. Good on ya, U2.
2. Coldplay

Very heavy soft rock is how Coldplay describe themselves on Ping. Only Chris Martin might have been bothered to turn up at the Apple keynote, but the band are still racking up the fans on iTunes.
1. Lady GaGa

- Bad (Michael Jackson), Epic (Faith No More), Rebel Rebel (David Bowie)
She makes comments that look like her own - or at least has had the respect to employ someone who writes like she speaks - she likes some great songs and she posts pics as well. GaGa is head and shoulders the artist to follow on Ping right now and probably for some time to come.
Take a look over here if you want to know how to set up Ping for yourself and let us know in the comments which artist, dead or alive, that you'd most like to follow.
