Asus N series pumps up the volume
Asus has announced the latest arrivals to its N series lineup with the focus squarely on multimedia and, in particular, sound.
The Taiwanese computer giant has called upon the Ice-power team at Bang & Olufsen to come up with SonicMaster sound - which is no gimmick according to the press release.
It's a "new professional audio certification programme for portable computers...[that] incorporates large speaker chambers, more powerful amplifiers and extensive software processing to deliver breathtaking audio fidelity".
There's a 15.6-inch, 1366 x 768, version called the Asus N53JN and a 17.3-inch, 1600 x 900, one called the Asus N73JN.
Both machines, as well as their high quality sound performance, should display movies and games pretty well too, due to the Intel i5-520M chips (there's also an i3 option for the N53JN), 4GB of RAM and Nvidia GeForce 315M or 400M 3D graphics.
There's a Blu-ray drive on both models, as well as a card-reader, HDMI out, USB 3.0, a webcam, Bluetooth 2.1 and storage is up to 500GB on the smaller model and 640GB on the larger one.
Prices for the Asus N53JN are between £649 and £999 depending on your exact specifications, and the N73JN will set you back £1099 - there is no customisation to be done with this one.
There's no exact release dates yet, although we do know that the N53JN will be hitting Comet stores in time for Christmas due to an early November release.
