Here's one for you green-fingered friends out there. I'm not talking to those wannabe Summer gardeners, who are only to happy to spend warm afternoons tending their prize patches and occasionally wander round Homebase pretending they know what they're looking for. Oh no, no, no. This in for the hardcore, all-weather, proper gardeners. The extremists. Those who know their azaleas from their elbows. Those that will be out there even in this typically British autumnal weather (that'll be torrential rain, then) and know that this time of year is just as important (if not more so) for keeping your garden looking tiptop all year round.

Until now, one of the best sources of gardening tips and advice was the BBC's Gardener's World. This is the online offshoot and it really is a fantastic resource.

So grab your wellies, stock up on Lemsips and get out there and get muddy. Come April, you'll be glad you did.
