Logitech Alert: HD security system
Logitech has released a new range of surveillance based devices in order to beef up the security in your home.
Logitech Alert is a HD digital video (960 x 720) system that is easy to set up due to a three-step process. You simply need to install the software, connect the system to your home network, plug in the camera and away you go. Just sit back and wait for the burglars.
You can either opt for the 750i Master System for indoor security or the 750e Outdoor Master system which is weather-proof and has night-vision technology. You get one camera with the system, but you can add extra satellite cameras as well.
The cameras are triggered by motion-detectors and you can set 16 motion zones. The footage can be stored directly onto the cameras using microSD.
You can watch back recorded footage via you computer or, if you're away from home, by using the premium web and smartphone application. Later on this year, when Google TV hits, you'll also be able to access the footage on your Logitech Revue system.
"The video security market is characterized by expensive, hard-to-install and hard-to-use security systems, as well as poor-quality monitoring cameras”, said Eric Kintz, vice president and general manager of Logitech’s video business.
"As part of our vision to bring HD video to anyone, anywhere, Logitech is thrilled to introduce a completely new video security solution to consumers and small businesses, which offers HD video quality and motion-triggered live viewing and recording at attractive price points".
The Logitech Alert 750i Master System will cost $299.99 and the Logitech Alert 750e Outdoor Master System $50 more. The indoor add-on camera is $229.99 and the outdoor one, again, $50 more. Logitech Alert Web and Mobile Commander will be in the box as a 7-day free trial, it will then cost you $79.99 per year.
Logitech is stating that the systems will be available in the US and Europe during August. There's no UK specific pricing as of yet.
