Apple unveils 27-inch display with 60 per cent more pixels

If you liked the look of the new 27-inch iMac that Apple has recently unleashed, but you've just spent your last few pennies on a MacBook then fear not, because you can simply grab one of these Apple 27-inch LED Cinema Displays, hook up your MacBook and away you go.

The display will work with any recent Apple computer and it will also charge your MacBooks using the built-in MagSafe feature.

The display has an impressive 2560 x 1440 resolution (the same as the top-end iMac) and this gives you a 16:9 ratio for all your video watching. There's also in-plane switching on board, which gives a viewing angle of 178 degrees.

Compared to the 24-inch Apple display currently on sale, Cupertino Computers is stating that this screen has 60 per cent more pixels, so you should get some ultra-clear and sharp pictures.

The display comes with an iSight camera built-in, a MiniDisplay port and three USB ports. It also has a speaker system, complete with subwoofer, with a total sound output of 49W.

The UK Apple Store simply says "coming soon" and we've been unable to get a price in sterling as of yet, but Apple has confirmed that it will cost $999 across the pond.
