Dell goes Neo Mobile for Inspiron M101z notebook
Dell has followed up the popular Inspiron 11z notebook with the Inspiron M101z - and has decided to go with AMD's Athlon II Neo Mobile processors for the machine.
You can choose whether to go for the single core or dual core version of the CPU, both come with integrated ATI graphics.
You also have the choice of how much RAM and storage you want on board - up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM and up to 320GB of space via a SATA HDD.
The display is an 11.6-inch, 1366 x 768, TrueLife HD glossy one, and there's SRS premium sound courtesy of two 1.5W speakers.
There's a 7-in-1 card reader built in, to go with three USB ports, a 1.3-megapixel webcam (with mic) and also a full-width ergonomic keyboard.
In terms of connecting your Inspiron M101z - there is Ethernet, Wi-Fi (b/g/n) and Bluetooth 3.0. It comes with a 6-cell battery, although Dell is saying there will be a 9-cell version on its way later on in the year.
Charlie Tebbs, director of consumer marketing at Dell Europe said: “The Inspiron M101z is an affordable, on-the-go companion that can be easily customised to handle individual needs from simple e-mailing and Web surfing to HD video playback and editing or watching a favourite TV program”.
We couldn't have put it much better ourselves. Don't expect this notebook to set the world alight, or be capable of any high-end gaming - but expect it to be able to handle your everyday PC tasks with little fuss.
It's available now, direct from Dell, and the lowest spec model costs £379. Colour-wise you can choose between blue, pink, red or black.
