Google Street View cam-cars spotted in London

Shooting up the big smoke?

28 September 2007 15:42 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Exciting news for fans of Google Street View - the Google cam-cars have been spotted in our fair capital suggesting London is about to be officially Street Viewed.

The VW Beetles sport a special roof-cam that take video / sequences of images that are then transformed into what we see as the online Street View interface.

So suggestions for Londonites - firstly following "privacy" concerns after the views have gone live in the States - close your curtains.

Secondly, if you see a car like this, try and walk around it as many times as you (the cam part is a spherical digital camera) for amusing duplicated-you shots.
