Toshiba is claiming that its latest Portégé laptop is "the thinnest and lightest full-function laptop in Europe". The Portégé R700 is just 16.8mm thin at its slimmest point and weighs 1.3kg.
As well as being supermodel-style-skinny it's also a pretty good looking and durable laptop. It's got a magnesium alloy chassis with a honeycomb internal structure and Toshiba states that the device has a 3D impact sensor that protects the machine from knocks, bumps and drops.
CPU-wise, you've got a choice of the Intel i7, i5 or i3 core chip backed up by up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM. You've also got a choice between a HDD of up to 320GB or a 128GB SSD.
The screen is an LED backlit 13.3-incher with a 1366 x 768 resolution. There's a DVD optical drive, three USB 2.0 sockets, an eSATA/USB combo port, a multi-card reader and VGA and HDMI outputs. It also features a VGA webcam and a finger print reader.
The Toshiba Portégé R700 is out in July, but at present there's no confirmation with regards to pricing.
