Sanyo has launched the Xacti HD700, a pocket-sized, 720p high-definition digital camcorder, and, as is becoming de rigeur, it's the world's smallest and lightest. The little brother of the previously launched HD100, the HD700 is capable of recording both 720p-quality high-def video and 7.1-megapixel photos to an SD or SDHC memory card.
With an ultra-compact, ergonomic shape, the HD700 is angled at those shooting for web use - video is recorded in iPhone and YouTube friendly MPEG4 AVC/H.264 format.
A quick run down of features reveals "Face Chaser" which does what you'd imagine, 5x optical zoom and a 2.7-inch screen.
The SANYO Xacti HD700 will be available in silver, red and brown in the US at the end of October for $600 with no info as yet on UK/Euro pricing or availability.
