Onkyo unveils three 3D ready home cinema receivers

Onkyo, the home cinema audio expert, has announced three new receivers that are fully compatible with Windows 7 and the latest 3D video formats. For the first time Onkyo is also adding FLAC playback on its machines.

The three new models are called the TX-NR1008, the TX-NR808 and the TX-NR708. Each one has seven HDMI 1.4a connections, an Ethernet port, full 1080p video upscaling using Faroudja's DCDi Cinema technology, USB input for your iPad/iPod/iPhone and all include multi-room setup features. They are all THX and DLNA1.5 certified as you'd expect with Onkyo.

As well as FLAC you'll also have no bother playing back MP3, WMA, WMA Lossless, WAV, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, and LPCM files. The receivers can also access various streaming Internet radio services such as LastFM, Napster and vTuner.

Lossless audio processing is via Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. There is also Dolby Pro Logic IIz and Audyssey DSX. The TX-NR1008 has 9.2 channels and the TX-NR808 and TX-NR708 both have 7.2 channels and there are a vast amount of speaker configurations available.

As well as the extra channels, the top-end TX-NR1008 also has ISF video calibration as well as an additional 192 kHz/24-bit Burr Brown DAC to smoothly deal with the demands of multi-channel audio processing.

The TX-NR808 and TX-NR708 are both out in June and will cost £1000 and £800 respectively. The daddy of the three, the TX-NR1008 is out in July and will cost £1300.
