Nobody does crackpot inventing quite like the British, so when the whole country gets behind a project like the 1,000mph Bloodhound Super Sonic Car, you know it has to be pretty special.

The £10 million vehicle is currently on show at the Gadget Show Live 2010 along with its "small" Eurojet EJ200 jet engine - designed for the Eurofighter - and the auxiliary power unit MCT V12 800bhp race engine which starts it all up and pumps the fuel to the jet as well.

If you want to bombard yourself with facts and figures, then head over to the Bloodhound site. If you'd rather gawp at the pretty pictures, then stay right here.
