Grundig and Goodmans have announced they are launching Freeview HD Digital set top boxes in time for the World Cup.
With nearly 50% of UK homes able to receive Freeview HD by the time the 2010 World Cup kicks off, consumers looking to actually finally use their HD-Ready TV will be able to watch BBC HD, ITV HD, and Channel 4 HD, although will miss out to Sky for Five HD.
The new boxes will also be BBC iPlayer ready when the service comes to the boxes later in the year.
The Grundig and Goodmans Freeview HD Digital Set Top Boxes are available at Argos, Tesco, Comet, Costco, Hughes TV and play.com for, typically, £149.97.
Both the Grundig GUD300HD and Goodmans GDB300HD will come with 8 Day EPG, offer 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p resolutions via HDMI, feature two Scart Sockets, an Ethernet port for future Internet Services like the iPlayer.
What's the difference between the two? It looks like design.
