T-Mobile might have announced on Friday that the HTC Desire launch was "Green for go" for Monday 29 March, but multiple tip-offs to Pocket-lint and a quick call to a T-Mobile store have confirmed that the launch has actually slipped back to after Easter.
"I went in to T Mobile to see if I could leer and letch over a dummy HTC Desire and they wont be available until after Easter", Pocket-lint reader Tony Hedges told us while gadget website gadgetvenue is reporting its readers as saying:
"I went into the T-Mobile store in Exeter yesterday and they told me it has been delayed for another week. There seems to be conflicting news everywhere as to it’s release, it seems".
Further comments on the site suggest that:
"I have just got off of the phone to T-Mobile upgrade department and have been informed that the HTC Desire FAILED a last minute ‘Quality’ check yesterday, 25th March 2010, and HTC will NOT be allowing the release of the Desire to ANY networks until the 2nd April".
Meanwhile a customer representative has told Pocket-lint:
"We're currently unsure of when we'll be able to take orders for the HTC Desire, as interest has been high. In order to avoid disappointment we do not want to take orders that we can't deliver on. Looking at the computer and it looks as though it'll be after the weekend".
So looks like you'll have to wait just a few more days before you can get your hands on the latest flagship HTC Android device.

UPDATE: It appears from some comments below that some HTC Desire handsets have got through to people, contradicting the numerous reports we had earlier this morning that the handsets weren't. We are awaiting further confirmation from T-Mobile as to what the current situation is and will update the story accordingly.
UPDATE (30.03.10): T-Mobile has issued the following:
"Good news regarding the Desire, stock is being dispatched today and we expect it to be in stores within the next two days."
