The Pentax 645D: A 40-megapixel £6300 DSLR monster
Pentax has put a silence to the rumours that were starting to form around a new Digital SLR, the 645D, by releasing the new DSLR in Japan.
Launching only in Japan (Pentax has confirmed to Pocket-lint there is no plans for a UK release), the new camera sports a whopping 40-megapixel resolution sensor thanks to a deal with Kodak.
Other specs include a PENTAX original Real Image Engine, 14 bit A/D converter,
dustproof, weather-resistant and coldproof body (70 seals), dual SD/SDHC card slots, a new SAFOX IX+ autofocus system, with 11 sensor points, a dust Removal II mechanism and a trapezium-shaped glass prism viewfinder.
Weighting in at 1.4kg the 645D is expected in May or June. Price a rather scary 850,000 Yen which at today's exchange rate works out around £6308 for those willing to make the trip.
