Elgato unveils dual-tuner EyeTV

Elgato has just unveiled the EyeTV Netstream DTT - a networkable dual tuner for DVB-T, which can take your digital television signal and channel it out across your home network. As it's a dual tuner, it'll allow two people to watch entirely different channels in different rooms, or on different devices.

Those devices can include Mac and Windows laptops - Elgato makes its own software for the Mac, and it works with Windows 7's media centre and also with TerraTec's home cinema software for previous versions of Windows. Elgato reckons it's better than a USB DVB-T receiver because it relies on Wi-Fi instead of what could be an iffy TV signal.

The Elgato EyeTV Netstream DTT is available now, and costs £230, including VAT. Oh, and Elgato recommends an Ethernet or 802.11-n Wi-Fi connection to prevent bad performance. If nothing else, it could help solve those arguments about who gets to watch what - just open up your respective laptops, plug in headphones, and you can happily eye up Tony Robinson on Time Team while she watches the news.
