With cloud computing on the increase, with more people storing precious information online, it seems the need for storing your various digital bits and bobs on a physical hard drive could be declining.

For some, however, a physical storage solution is still the best, since the responsibility begins and ends with you, and not some company who's server decides to pack up; resulting in the loss of your much-treasured files.

Enter stage left the Iomega eGo portable hard drive, which happens to be on sale at Dabs.com for the very reasonable price of £69.98 (£73.48 including delivery).

Fitted into an aluminium casing and bundled with a suite of backup and anti-virus software the specs for the drive include a 500GB capacity, USB 2.0, and 480 Mbps data transfer rate. It weighs in at 185g and measures 8.9 x 13.7 x 1.6 cm.

The drive also gets the Iomega Drop Guard feature, which protects it when dropped up to 1.3 metres, "so you can be confident your portable drive is rugged".
