Amazon offers widgets for bloggers

Customisable apps for web pages

19 September 2007 8:32 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Amazon has launched a range of widgets that bloggers can design and customise to their liking and then add to their sites.

A bid to boost Amazon's affiliate marketing programme, in theory they could earn the hosting site up to 10% in referral fees.

According to recent comScore stats over a fifth of worldwide web users use widgets, so the programme could prove popular.

Obvious options such as search boxes, wish lists and favourites are offered along with product clouds, that show tag clouds with titles of products relevant to a site, slideshows, and, for those in the US, Unbox video previews.
