PowerPoint-type tool now available

Google has added to its online office software offerings with a presentation tool.

Part of the now-named "Docs" package (previously called Docs and Spreadsheets) the new programme is a PowerPoint-type tool that lets user create slideshow presentations.

This latest edition to the freeware offered by the internet giant could be seen to cement its standing as a serious rival to Microsoft's Office software.

Still in beta, the entire suite of office-friendly software from Google is designed to be used online, a concept called "cloud computing" that Microsoft has been slow to adopt.
