Ski Report app busts snowfall exaggerations
An iPhone application has been released that allows skiers and snowboarders to more accurately judge how much snow has fallen on their favourite resort. The software, provided by skireport.com, allows users to rate the snow themselves - cutting through the oft-inflated figures provided by the resorts.
Two professors from Dartmouth College compared data from the past five ski seasons at 450 resorts in North America, and compared it to data from independent meteorological sources. The results showed a "weekend effect", where snow on Saturdays and Sundays was 23% deeper than on weekdays.
The app is available in the app store right now, and more details can be found on skireport.com/iphone. Unfortunately it doesn't have a listing for London, right now, but if it did, it'd surely read "pretty damn good".
