Pocket Speed Radar unleashed at CES

Among the big companies exhibiting at CES 2010 are a host of smaller companies with more intriguing gadgets. One of which is the Pocket Speed Radar, from Pocket Radar Inc. It's a device that can measure velocities from a distance - a bit like traditional radar guns but in a smaller form factor.

The unit is accurate to one mile per hour and can take 10,000 speed measurements with one set of triple-A batteries. Its manufacturers suggest that it could be used at sports or racing events. Its accuracy will be reduced a bit on windy days, but should still prove useful if you're in the mood to measure some speeds.

The device is on sale now, and costs $250. It's not clear if it'll be available in the UK, but we're trying to find out how much it'll cost if it is. We'll keep you posted.
