Windows-friendly webcams

Microsoft has launched two new webcams - a desktop unit, the LifeCam VX-7000, and a notebook unit, the LifeCam NX-3000.
Compatible with Windows Live Messenger they both also offer connection to Photo Swap, a feature that allows consumers to share digital photos with friends and family during live video conversation.
Both devices offer a Windows Live Call Button that's described as speed dialling for webcams, work with LifeCam Dashboard which is built into Live Messenger and offer One-Touch Blogging for Windows Live Spaces.
The LifeCam VX-7000 includes a 2.0-megapixel sensor and has a built-in unidirectional microphone with acoustic noise cancellation that claims to deliver crystal-clear audio. A 71-degree, wide-angle lens fits more people on the screen at once and it auto adjusts for low-light conditions.
This new LifeCam for notebooks offers 640 x 480 pixel video, a swivel lens, video effects for "fun" visual elements and a protective carry case.
Both LifeCams will be available in September for $99.95 for the Microsoft LifeCam VX-7000, $99.95 and $59.95 for the Microsoft LifeCam NX-3000.
