The Mozilla Foundation has confirmed that the Firefox web browser has been downloaded over 400,000,000 times in the 3 years since its launch.

"With your amazing efforts, Firefox has reached 400 million downloads and demonstrated that not even the world's most powerful companies can keep people from a better, safer, and faster web experience."

Although by the Foundation's own previous reckoning that only 25% of users who download the browser become active users that puts the figure of people using the software regularly at 100,000,000 - possibly less if the initial figure includes updates.
