IXOS has launched the XMI308 Tube Speakers - described as a great value iPod travel speaker, that works with iPods, any MP3 player or a laptop.

The battery or USB powered device's small size and lightweight design have led the company to pitch these as a brilliant hotel room speaker for tunes on your travels.

The sideways firing speakers claim to deliver a large sound from a surprisingly small package - they offer a 2 x 2 watt output with a frequency range of 150Hz to 18kHz.

You can run the XMI308 on 4 AAA batteries, but when powered by USB, the speaker will recharge a docked iPod - as long as it's a nano (including the new range), 30GB iPod with video, 80GB iPod classic or the iPod touch.

Other iPods, as well as other MP3 players are compatible - via the 3.5mm stereo jack input.

The XMI308 Tube Speakers will be available in pink, black and silver for £25.
