Apple hits one million iPhones sold milestone

That's a lotta store credit...

Apple has announced it sold its one millionth iPhone on Sunday 9th September, just 74 days after its introduction on Friday June 29th.

"One million iPhones in 74 days - it took almost 2 years to achieve this milestone with iPod", said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO.

"We can't wait to get this revolutionary product into the hands of even more customers this holiday season."

This works out at over 13,500 handsets sold per day since the device launched in the States.

Although Steve Jobs announced they were very close the million milestone at the "beat goes on" iPod launch event, no doubt recent sales figures have been helped by the $200 price cut.

This decision proved to be controversial with early-adopters unhappy that they has paid such a high "tax" for wanting to own the phone at launch.

Apple bowed to consumer pressure and has offered anyone who paid the full $599 price for the iPhone a $100 Apple store credit.
