  • Is that *really* an image of a micro USB connector? Looks a little too fat. Posted by Mark Brewster, UK
  • Nope, and it's not even a Mini-USB. Looks amost like the proprietary connector on my old Fujifilm digital camera.

    Way to go Pocket Lint.

  • It would be pants if Apple did ditch the Apple dock connector so I'm pleased to hear that they're not.

Having an adapter doesn't necessarily mean you'll be able to charge your iPod/iPhone with your generic USB charging whatsit as the more modern iPods require a special reference voltage on the USB data lines which many USB chargers dont supply.

And the iPhone 3g is another story altogether, it requires a specific resistance applied across two pins of the doc connector to charge correctly.

So while the micro USB connector will allow you to plug into computers using the micro USB slot, it may not actually charge properly.
