  • I have used a service www.NickelScan.com that does a great job of scanning photos and it only costs 5 cents per scan. It was a bit of a job to get them sorted out but well worth it. Posted by Trish, usa
  • The safest place to store your pictures (in addition to your computer) is on an online file sharing site like http://www.MyOtherDriv.com . You can use that site for online backup and file sharing. Very sweet. Posted by Jim, USA
  • I totally agree with using backups especially online backups. For me Safecopy backup, www.safecopybackup.com, is a perfect fit. I can backup all my pictures and files from both my Mac and Pc with just only one account. I can also backup my USB drives and share files as well. I'm very happy with and it's worth checking it. • What if you need to go back to the original because your scan/digital file doesn't fit to the new standards of the industry? You then have to go back to the original and scan it again. This is OK as long as you keep the originals in a safe place. Posted by Cedric, France
  • "The most important thing in the whole process is the original artefact - ie the photo or negative. Don't just scan and then bin pleads Willhelm."

But... why? Why is the most important thing the photo rather than the image on it?

  • I used www.PreserveMyPictures.com, they take all your photographs, negatives and slides and create professional high quality digital images on CD/DVD that last. Once in digital format your picture possibilities are endless!
