  • Vain efforts, to use windows mobile in this age! Posted by Allan Kork, Southernland
  • If they would have used something other than Windows Mobile, it might have sold a little.

I'm sorry, but Windows Mobile is a joke.
    Posted by Bryan Pearson, US
  • Tell me *any* Mobile Phone OS, that is able to sync well (and that means including categories for calendar/contacts) with Outlook besides Windows Mobile.
I know, that's hard, but obviously no one else is able to do that. Decades of smartphone usage speaking here.
And in any technical test, Android as well as OSx (on a phone) fail against WM. I don't like it very much, but it's the only *professional* system...

  • To say "windows mobile is a joke" is sooo cool!
Brilliant! Why didn't I think of that? Oh, wait, cause I have actually used it! And an iPhone! The joke's on Apple!

  • Missing some info:
    1. Wifi?
    2. Which carrier?
    3. Bluetooth (I'd be surprised if it doesn't have BT)

    Questions:
    1. 512MB memory? You've got to be kidding me. Doesn't Toshiba actually manufacture flash RAM?
    2. Battery? User replaceable? With a device this thin, I'll bet it isn't.

    Problems:
    1. By the time this comes out, Apple will have 30 million handsets in the wild and the App store is now generating its own weather.
    2. Will any 3rd party apps be ready to take advantage of all this gooey, techy goodness? (Got to love that screen no matter what kind of of Phone/OS you prefer!)

  • This phone gave me an erection buy it now folks if you want unlimited crutch pleasure. Ladies wont be bothered about your size if you whip this cellular out of your pocket, dont let those ladies get in to close they'll crack the screen with their juices!!!!

  • Where can I sign up for it!!!! I love the large screen, fast processor, and slim design... and you cannot go wrong with windows mobile .. Awesome Platform!! especially for developers ... Microsoft doesnt restrict you like Apple does!!!

  • I notice that everyone bashing this phone is has not yet mentioned there is one thing that this phone has that no other has yet accomplished...

FULL flash support. This is huge. No more applications for Pandora or for Youtube. "If you stream it... it will come"

  • Looks like the goons at Microsoft have their social media trolls sticking up for kluge mobile. Posted by Rob, USA
  • Gotta be the best phone ive set my eyes on. i love windows mobile. In my opinion its one of the best mobile OS out in the market. and full FLASH on a phone is remarkable. Cant wait til it hits the streets...how much is it going to cost us tho? Posted by TIM, usa
  • Synthmeister, just got confirmation from Toshiba - the battery is replaceable by the user. Posted by stuartmiles, United Kingdom
  • Finally some a replacement for apples crap. Posted by rob, sweden
  • iPhone does not a multitask OS, you can't runvery application at time. iPhone is nice, is pretty, it's cool, and many more things. But IT IS NOT a professional OS, it can no be competitive in large logistics applecations

I think that only the Androids's users could talk about WinMob in the near future.

Windows Mobile it is not the best, nothing really is, but it have the biggest market share, it is not for free. Remenber this OS in not only for smart phone, this is just one more application.

  • What's wrong with Windows Mobile? I am using it for a couple of years now and I am very happy with it. Tons of software from third parties, the only OS that can really sync well my contacts, mail, calendar and tasks. Multitasking out of the box, you name it. Freezing up is also quite rare. And what Toshiba shows here with the TG01 almost makes me drool. :) Posted by Michael, Netherlands
  • The Toshiba looks very enticing on the hardware aesthetics front, but I guess some people's frowns upon Windows mobile are, that it's not the slickest mobile OS and it is not very consumer centric...i.e, my mother cannot use a windows mobile device easily, yet she can figure out how to navigate an iPhone.

Maybe Toshiba should gone down the Google Android route!?

  • I just checked out the video. Looks quite slick. I hope that level of interaction goes quite deep into the phone's OS and not just on the home screen.

  • Windows Mobile Rock! That is what I am using to read and to reply to this message. Opera browser set to show as a PC not a mobile device, and typing on my Bluetooth ThinkOutside Stowaway keyboard as well as using the Bluetooth Stowaway mouse. Finally a faster processor than my 2004 HP iPAQ hx4700! I've been waiting for something faster than 624MHz since then and until this it has been the fastest regularly available processor. Where is Moore's law when you need it, eh? Finally, My prayers have been answered. Instant on and all my GPS and wildlife tracking notes and programs, CAD and statistical as well as my scientific RP notation graphing calc will work on this along with my myriads of MS Excel spreadsheets that are on my current PocketPCs. I only wish it still had IR. I love being able to change channels on TV's at bars or even in BestBuy and turning the volume up so I can hear ;-) using my PocketPC. Works well as a remote for IR control of cameras as well. Go Toshiba!!! Posted by Jeffro, United States
  • i love the gadget (see video at http://ibuymobile.co.uk/reviews/2009/02/07/toshiba-releases-tg01/) but the operating system on it was little disoppointed i would say. it will be awesome phone and i am looking forward to buy it... Posted by M Y Awan, UK

  • To the chap from Kazakhstan: with the Toshiba being 4.1" it obviusly exceeds you in every way! Posted by John, UK
  • My first handheld computer was a toshiba pocket PC.... back in 2002 it had wifi/ bluetooth, expandable memory, a 400 mhz processor, 128ram and lasted all day long.....

when the iphone came out, i was so disappointed i had a device in a shoe box that could do more in 2002 than the iphone!!!

    The Iphone is:
    *cool
    *clean
    *easy to use

    Windows Mobile Phones are:
    *smart
    *useful
    *expandable

The thing is windows knows that people are now moving towards easy of use, and clean interfaces..... what will apple do when people start complaining of not being able to upgrade their batteries,
    or expand their memory,
when they can not edit basic documents,
    or take small video clips,
or what about when the look and see contact information online and want to add it to their address books and cant just cut and paste it,
or when a friend on a windows mobile device vists a website in FLASH and can browse effortlessly and they cant,
when they ask for free online sync like MS does,
???? they will fold over and die just like they have done before

    THE IPHONE IS A FAD!!!
    and its over!

  • i am so happy that iphone is going to go down. i liked iphone but i hate the mac osx its just not good like the windows...windows is more commonly used and runs more software than mac and in one sence its better. mac has the looks but windows has the people. i m buying this phone(black one) as soon as it comes out in june this year, i had my eye over in this for a few months when most of the ppl didnt even know about it...i love windows and i love windows mobiles. i also love toshiba and i have a toshiba laptop i like windows and i like toshiba so i am definitely buying this.
    windows rocks and toshiba rocks.
and both of them combine to form a very powerful material which throws the baby phones like iphone in the garbage can... comment who agrees with me and who dont agree with me go and cry to your mommy because this is reality...
toshiba tg01 is gonna kick iphones ass.
till now i didnt even know iphone didnt take videos which is even better...
the last thing i will say is the toshiba tg01 is gonna kick the ass of iphone...
    tg01 rocks...

  • when the hell is this phone coming out in the UK and which network will have it? Posted by Marco, UK
  • Anything is better than the iPhone when it comes to substance over style. But I think I'll go for Symbian for my next smartphone. Maybe a small Nokia E55 or E52. They have it all, are small and i don't have to sell a kidney to buy it.

On the other hand they're fugly and not stylish at all unlike Job's overpriced toys with 2003's functionality or even this Toshiba - which I'm sure will be very effective but outrageously overpriced.

  • I have used phone pda's for 19 years. Most of you were still sucking mommy's tits. I have used all the operating platforms. I now just go with windows moblex. Its the only system thats not fly by night. I use it like a computer when i am away from the office. I swear by it. So if you want the best go with the fastest processor combined with windows moble. Cost means nothing if you want the best Posted by Rick, USA
  • Looking good Tosh guys, if it had a keyboard it'd be top of my list, I wonder how fast I could type using the on screen keyboard?
Has anyone got a release date yet for this gizmo?
    Posted by aj, UK
  • Those that bash WinMo do it because they have never used it or are reviewers who
are conditioned to the knee-jerk reaction of saying something negative about it.
The trend today is to use a lot of visual gunk to locate your info and your files on a cell phone-something that you can not do on a one-size-fits-all phone like the Iphone. Here it is: you can find your stuff much quicker using text menus instead
of all that visual gunk. The visual is fine for those who hate to use their brain.
