  • Amazing to see how quickly it has taken to move on from the VHS stage of technology. So the next question is, how long will the DVD last? My guess is longer than the VCR, but they were probably still saying the same thing when DVDs were just coming out. Posted by A. Broughton, UK
  • Good bye VHS video cassette! Posted by shaif, Finland
  • To be honest i'm suprised its taken them this long. I don't know anyone who's still got a VCR in their home? Even those who used to keep them for the kids have moved over to DVD Posted by stuartmiles, United Kingdom
  • I've still got two working VHS full-size CAMCORDERS with a third not powering. Unfortunately, the batteries must be replaced before I take them mobile on my vintage cruiser bikes.

Yes, I will be producing footage on VHS and editing and then there are all the taped movies to watch that were virtually FREE. 30 years of titles covered--MY OH MY.

I'm kinda slow getting around to it but I'm just as broke.

  • I still have a VCR along with a DVD player, and VHS tapes are still the most used media for recording television. They just don't release movies on VHS anymore, but the medium will stay around for a long while. Posted by ES, United States of America
  • Combo VCR / DVD units are still available new lots of places. Posted by MES, USA
